Rituals of the Sea is a 501(c)3 educational non-profit organization based on the coast of Maine. Founded in 2020 by a small group of former staff from the Chewonki Foundation, The Apprenticeshop, and Hurricane Island Outward Bound School, Rituals of the Sea maintains a unique fleet of traditional working watercraft and an extensive maritime archive. Our mission is to provide access to experience in open wooden boats, and encourage handcraft traditions through the preservation and practice of maritime folkways.
